Series Title:Backyard Safari
Your young students will learn about dinosaurs by looking for clues such as:
•How fossils reveal the sizes and types of dinosaurs.
•How dinosaur traits can be compared with those of similar, living animals.
•What a paleontologist is and how they study dinosaurs.
Special Investigator Celia, and her friends, Crinkleroot and Inspector Bud, search for clues to the mystery of dinosaurs. Celia compares a plaster cast of her own foot to that of a Tyrannosaurus rex to illustrate how tall the dinosaur was when it roamed the earth 65 million years ago. Crinkleroot and a young assistant show your students how they can dig for their own make-believe fossils and create their own dinosaurs from foil, wire, and clay.
Teacher’s Guide activities engage your students in:
•Making dinosaur trading cards including the “thunder lizards’” vital statistics.
•Writing a manual on how to care for a pet dinosaur.
•Planning a time capsule for future scientists to learn about today’s world.
